Default Muddy Joseph's Coats

I've followed the steps exactly (I'm pretty sure). But somehow, my lighter colors, once wiped, are a muddy version of themselves and not the brilliant colors they once were. Somehow, when I'm wiping the black ink off, it's not completely wiping away. Any ideas?!?!... I've tried wiping more gently, using a slfter tissue... no luck. Thanks!

Question Two possibilities...

1) Is the embossing powder really melted? The colors under the embossing should not be affected by wiping.
2) Is the embossing ink clear?... or tinted? Someone mentioned that tinted ink can cause the colors underneath to "look funny."

The black ink is prolly gettin' caught in the nooks & crannies of the layer of clear EP, making it difficult to get it all off . . . you might try double embossing with clear, before applying the black ink to see if that gives a glossier, more resistant coat?

Dunno for sure--just guessin' . . .

BTW, what KIND of black ink are you putting over the top??? If it's Basic Black, Staz-On, etc., those inks are "bleed proof" and more "permanent" than a regular black would be . . .

I've been using Basic Black. Is there another black ink that would be a better choice? I bow to her royal rubberness!

I suppose you're brayering the color, eh? Hmmmmm.

Well, what if you just used a water-based black marker? The SU! Stampin' Write is NOT bleed-proof, so it should resist the EP fairly well?

Try cutting apart your embossed piece into smaller pieces so you can experiment with different blank inks over the top and see which you prefer!
