Question Circle for paint can top?

I'm a newbie and would like to do an altered paint can but was wondering how I get a large enough circle to adequately cover the top of the can? Do I need to invest in a Cutterbee circle scissors? I know that my Big Shot cannot make a large enough circle. I could trace a template and cut it out but my cutting is not the best. I would like a really "clean" circle. Thanks for any advice or help! I apologize if this has been asked, I just couldn't find a thread. Thanks!

I don't have a large circle-cutter either; what I've resorted to in the past is using a plate or bowl from the kitchen cupboard. I can usually find a saucer, cereal bowl, or lid (from a coffee can or Tupperware-type container) that's about the right size.

I find it's best to trace the bowl/plate/whatever onto the back side of the paper or cardstock I'm using, so that if I don't cut along the traced line very well any stray pencil or pen marks won't show after the paper is attached to the container.

I too am not the best when it comes to cutting, but, after making tons of paint cans, one tip that I find works best is to turn the paper as you cut, not the scissors.

the paint cans i have done, i have been able to use the creative memories cutting system. if you don't have that, then definitely invert the lid and trace it. just like trulyblessed mentioned, turn the paper to cut not the scissors.
