Hi, want to do something nice for the dance teachers, I have seen what look like paper roses on top of a pen or pencil, I was told it was a strip of 12 x 12 paper wrapped and bent as you went along, but mine are not looking good, any ideas or tutorials?
Thanks,
Jill
Hi, you might want to look at this tutorial on you tube Quilled Paper Roses - Crafts Beautiful March 2008 Demo. This is made with a piece of quilling paper, but you can make it with a broader piece of paper wrapped around a tooth pick, or even a pencil, if you want it to fit on the top. Hope that is what you are looking for. xxx
I found the youtube tutorial if you want to see, close to what I want. However, what I have seen in the past was paper that was not cut straight, it descended from 1.5 inches to taper to .5 inches. It was then rolled, and I was told they wet the paper first to make it more pliable. She used double sided paper and you could see the inside and outside on the rose. It is just I am a dud and cannot make it work! LOL
I have a two-sided stamp, one solid, one outline, with a swirl flower. After stamping, you cut along the swirled line, then roll up the flower to make a rose. I've had it so long, I don't remember who made it. But you could do the same thing by taking a 2" square of paper, start on one side, and draw a continuous circle, ending in the middle. By cutting out with scallop deco scissors and then rolling with a quilling tool, you could make gorgeous 3-D flowers.

Cuttlebug has come out with a new tool. First it has a die that cuts a 12" strip with some sort of an edge. Then you use a quilling tool to make flowers. I bought it but have not played with it yet. Then there are other dies available with different edges.
