Liquid Applique?

I was checking out some Xmas cards (I know it's early) and saw a few done with the Holiday Woodcuts set-- they used liquid applique on Santa' sbeard to make it look fluffy. What is liquid applique, where do I get it, and how do I use it?

Hi! I am not an expert, but I'll tell you what I know. LA is like a gel, it comes in a tube. When you heat it with your embossing gun it fluffs up, that's probably what you saw in the cards. You can choose to heat it or not. I bought some from SU, they had it in a winter mini catty, but I have seen it some craft stores. I hope that helps.:p

I bought mine at Walmart in the fabric paint section.

I've used Liquid Applique a number of times. I find it is great for snow, beards and the typical uses for the white. They sell it in colors, but I have never seen any but white. I have used a little bit of re-inker to color the white and then applied with a brush.

This colored the Applique, but I was not able to spread it in a fine line like it comes out of the tube. But it still heats and puffs.

I've also added some glitter while it was wet (before I heated), and it mostly stuck.

Worth having alittle fun!

They also have them at JoAnn Fabrics.

another technique for liquid applique

Another cool technique is to use the colored LA or add a bit of reinker to white and brayer it onto cardstock fairly thinly. Even go in a couple different directions. Then heat it slightly with the heat gun being careful not to burn it. The result is a paper that feels like suede.
