I just created the coolest happy accident. I was trying out the wax paper resist technique, and I had folded my wax paper into triangles trying to get kind of a quilt block look. When I went to iron it I didn't have a scrap paper handy to put between the iron and the wax paper so I grabbed a paper towel. Well after ironing I realized that the pattern from the paper towel was also on the card. I wasn't so sure about it until I brayered on the ink.WOW!!!
It is so cool looking! You guys should try it and let me know what you think. I never thought that the paper towel would transfer along with my wax paper pattern!

WOWIES O WOW!!! This is the coolest "accident" I have seen in a long time!!! Thank you soooo much for sharing.
I just tried it out... talk about a wonderful new look! My paper towels have an 'embossed' pattern on them... as well as a printed one.. so I decided to use uncrinkled waxed paper with the paper towel and see what happened... WOW O WOW O WOW!!!
Had I chosen a different color for brayering (I used brocade blue) it would look just like antique lace!!! This is far easier than trying to ink up a background stamp and going that path!
WAHOOO!!! I am one happy camper!!! Can you tell??? LOL
THANK YOU!! THANK YOU!!! THANK YOU!!!

Reason: I can't type :(
YESSSS... you definitely do have to try this!!! I can just see the piles of waxed paper tech. backgrounds waiting to be used LOL
Can you even imagine all the possibilties? I was thinking.. window screening... burlap... real lace (fabric)... almost anything that could make a cool pattern... and not be harmed by heat.. and all of these things could be reused... unlike my patterned paper towel that went squiiiish.
I have a question. I usually put the wax paper between 2 sheets of paper before I iron. Are you just using one piece of glossy card stock and the towel on top of the wax paper?? Sorry, sometimes I just don't picture things right.

Thank you for explaining this.

Yes! I only had one piece of glossy paper left, so I put the wax paper on top of the glossy and then put the paper towel on top of the wax paper and then ironed. Hope this helps. Have Fun!!!

I may actually have to find my iron to try some of these ideas. I know I brought it with when I moved into this house nine years ago.... now where could it be...

My mom came home with 3 different kinds of paper towels this week after reading this thread.
ROFLOL.. that is soooo funny... and so like me!!! Is she also figuring ways to get double use out of the paper towels? Hey.. why not be creative.. then turn around and use them as originally designed? Hmnm... wax... liquid mess... hmmm... must be defective paper towels, honey! LOL
Thank you, Sara W., for sharing this wonderful idea... and giving us so much fun!!! And thank you, AprilJP, for helping me to smile this day.
