Default how do you make a fastener for a card?

i've seen different types, including making a loop of some sort to close over a button.

i'd like to punch a small circle, then attach with an eyelet. however, i'm not sure how to attach the string to wind around the circle. does that make sense?

thank you so much for any help.

You could always put 2 eyelets and string the ribbon/string through them, then tie it. I usually put brads , then tie it on. I think thats what you were asking? Also I've seen cards done where the string was strung through with the eyelet, then set. (does that make sense?) But then you can't open the card, its more for decoration.

that may be what i have to do. i just wanted to try the winding around method like interoffice envelopes, but wanted to know an attractive way to fasten the string so it didn't look ugly.

Calbear,

I took some Rubber Stamper magazines out from a local library this past summer, and there was a really good article and examples of exactly what you're talking about. Unfortunately, I don't know what issue it's in. Perhaps someone who has some old Rubber Stamper mags can find it for you? I've been thinking of going back to that library and checking them out again. But last time, I kept them too long and ended up with FINES!

When you order tags, the sheet has these small circles on them with a hole in the middle (eyelet size). If you use these, it will look just like an interoffice envelope.

So, I'm thinkin' that after you punch your hole for the eylet in the circle cut out, punch another hole on the inside front of the card where the circle will go; put an end of hemp through from the inside front of the card and tie a big enough knot on the end to keep the other end from coming through the hole. put the hemp through the hole in the circle cut-out and the eyelet. Then you can attach the circle with glue or whatever. That's got the string anchored on one side. Then just put a matching circle/eyelet on the other side, setting the eyelet kinda loose so it's not hard to wind the hemp around. I hope this makes sense, and that it's what you're talking about even! I can see it it my mind, but let's face it, it's a long trip between my mind and my fingers typing!

Hugs,
Betsy
