How'd They Do That! ?

:-?
Did you ever look at the SU Idea Book and wonder "How they did that?"
Well, I am wondering what technique was used on the Spring Mini Catalog for the Crab & Company Stamp Set Idea on the new longer version CS.
It looks like the crab was cut out. Don't tell me it was done with an exacto knife! I am miserable with that tool! Doesn't work for me. Anyone has any ideas or suggestions or have tried it's to share?
I fell in love with this stamp set. Got it the other day. It is adorable and comes with a lot. So many uses you can create forever!
Well, I would appreciate any input.
Happy Stampin'!

Yep, definitely looks "cut out". Rather than using a craft knife, I would use the small, pointy paper snips. The present, hat and cake appear to have been stamped and cut separately, then added to the crab. Unfortunately, you might need to use the Exacto in some of the narrower spots, though (around the straight part beneath the eyeballs and between the legs).

You all have to run to Wal-Mart and get a Crayola Cutter!!! This is the best thing! It is made for children 6 and up and consists of a battery operated pen that perforates your paper...It makes cutting out stamped images so easy. I love it. Of course, my 16 year old was hoping that she could tattoo herself with it, but it is not that sharp...you just trace the outside and voila!!! It is about $20, but worth it.

Thanks BB. I really appreciate your input. You know I just hate that exacto-nife. I guess I don't have a steady hand. I will give it a try over the weekend...
I love the stamp set though. Do you have it? Isn't it great! Well, thanks again.
Happy Stampin'

Amy, you have got to be kidding? Are you serious! I am there! I have pondered about the CB, and the SIZ family, etc. Not quite ready to make that kind of an investment. There is so much to buy. I will be there tomorrow to buy my crayola cutter. Thanks for the heads up. That was truly agreat tip! {{hug}}

labullard also shared a hint about putting packing tape (you know the thin clear kind) on the back of your image to give it a little more stability when you are cutting out pieces that have really small thin areas. I just normally use little cuticle scissors.

No, I don't have that set, but the more I see it, the more I want it. There are some adorable cards made w/ that crab! Good luck...I'm sure you'll do great!
