How to Shade COOL CAT like Lisa Lisa!

I have had several inquiries about how to do this..... So I thought I would post it here.

The Shading on this cat and the others like it was done by :

1)Stamping the image (stamp) in the lightest tone you will use. Everything is done on the stamp Before you Kiss the paper with it!

2) marker over the edges with the next darkest tone. Making sure to make your strokes wide. This doesn't seem to harm my markers to go right over the ink.

3) Go around the edges with the final darkest color in a thinner line.

4)Detail with your marker additional color.... like the blue eyes on this cat. they were saved for last.

5) Huff on your stamp to re-moisten the image.

6) stamp!

Hope that helps you all!

Actually - those instructions did not help me. You lost me at # 1. Can I come over and get a private lesson?

stampingcaz 02-08-2005 07:25 AM

What a beautiful card!!! I ordered this set! I didn't really think too much of it when I first saw it, but then I thought the boldness could have some really great embossing possibilities!!! Thanks for sharing!

qcbetty 02-08-2005 07:38 AM

You are one hot stampin' babe, ya know that? Even if you are only 3 feet tall! ROFL!!

Thanks for sharing, Leese...you rock, girlfriend!

And...um, Prinny? Pay attention in class!!! ;)

Jami 02-08-2005 07:46 AM

Thanks for the naming of this..... But I am sure it has been done before.... Somewhere, by someone! But for FUN... we can go with LLCT!!!

WHoohooo!!!

Soozie4Him 02-08-2005 08:02 AM

I'm SO glad my cat is coming tomorrow!!! :D

Just one thing about the instructions, which are great... At first I didn't understand that you don't *stamp* until the end. At first I thought you stamped w/ the light color, then did the markers on the image once it's on the paper. Maybe no one else thought this, but I thought I'd clarify that for anyone like me. <G>

Susan

Jami 02-08-2005 08:17 AM

Susan - I thought that at first too, but then figured it out

Tandra - HI!! The big hair had to go. I was starting to get too embarrssed to post. My new pic was just taken over the weekend at my b-day party. So that is what I *really* look like. :)

Joy - WooHoo - 6000 posts!!!!!!! Did you even notice???? WooHoo!!! Been missing you. Haven't seen much of you lately.

Lisa - we'll have to add LLCT to our series of techniques for future classes and swaps!!! :o

Lisa Lisa 02-08-2005 09:03 AM

Ohhhhh....... Sorry... I am not good at this explaining thing!

You do all of that on the actual STAMP!!! then stamp it unto paper! Because you are doing it on the rubber.... you get a more blended image!

Rubbernecker 02-08-2005 10:19 AM

Rats! I knew SOMEBODY on SCS would make me want this set! And I am NOT a cat person. You win LisaLisa. I think you made me buy Bundle Up too!

Seriously though - you should send this card in to SU. Great job!
Julie

NanCanStamp 02-08-2005 10:24 AM

I kinda thought the set was cute (in an "I Dream of Jeannie" kind of way)... now I have to have the dadgum thing for sure. What have you done?

Thanks Lisa, I think! ROFL....

Nannette

(back to the preorders.....) ARGH!

Thanks! I wish I had that effect on my DH!!

I stopped sending stuff to SU a while agao..... They dont like my stuff. I might send this one in. They have been about a year behind the trends.... I sent in a DTP about a year and a half ago.... They must have been "yuck!, thats ONE messy card!"

I love this cool cat set... So many possibilities. I love it in its Plain bold image too. Jenn Balcer and Cyndi Lyles are putting some Big Bombs in the gallery... check them out for some incredible fun ideas!

Lisa Lisa, you're my hero!!!

I'm serious!! You know it!!!

mschoener 02-08-2005 12:42 PM

This is the first I've seen part of the stamp set. Being a cat person, I'm going to have to get this one. It's a really neat card. (Do they still say "Neat"?)

Lisa Lisa 02-08-2005 01:04 PM

I use neat still! I love that word. I told some one the other day that they were neat and I was politely told that "guys" are not neat.

i was like... WHATEVER! I love NEAT!

Henrysmom 02-08-2005 01:23 PM

Lisa Lisa....I would love to stamp with you but I'm a lot further away than you think...I like in the South East Corner of British Columbia...very near the Alberta border!

BUT, I have family in Vancouver so the next time I'm down there maybe we could connect! LOVE to stamp anywhere, anytime!
