How to put a Crocheted doily onto scrapbook paper

Hi,
I have a doily I crocheted and want to put it on a scrapbook page. Does anyone know how I can mount it so that the doily doesn't get yellowed and nasty where I attach it.
Thanks

Is it possible to stitch it on using fine thread and just enough stitches to keep it from moving around?

woodgirl 10-25-2019 05:32 PM

That was my only idea. I had hoped that there was something else I could do but I might have to resort to that.
Thanks, I appreciate your answer.

Fabric glue would definitely not harm the doily. I doubt it would harm the paper, either, but if the long term survival of the paper is also a concern it might be best to do further research just to make sure.

You could staple it on using Tim Holtz Tiny Attacher. Or clip it on with a pretty clip.

A strong double sided adhesive (red line tape or Stick It) might work.

My first thought was what about a scan of the doily instead of the actual doily. You could even use the scan to make a background with the image repeated all over the page(s).

Thank you for the ideas. I think probably if I can I will do the thread method. I'm doing it in a corner on the back then turning it over so it will show on the front with the top of the doily showing on both the paper backing and the floral paper design. Does this make sense? In other words I have used a green 12x12 paper for the backing paper and a 12x12 floral paper used Martha Stewart around the page punch on the floral paper.

You are great for helping. I truly appreciate it.

I use a lot of crochet items on my cards and I use 2 methods of attaching them: brads with matching colors and secondly, small sections of double-stick tape spaced equally around the item. The brads allow the recipient to remove the crochet decoration if she wants to re-purpose it. The small pieces of double-stick (usually 2 or 3, depending on the size of the item) hold the crochet well, but a small enough not to damage it, if you need to remove or re-purpose it. Linda

Thanks you all for your ideas. I finally decided to go the sewing on method. That worked very well as it was to go into the corner so I took a couple of clips and clipped the doily to the paper and then sewed it to the paper. This way it kept it in place.

I'm real happy with the way it turned out.

Yes, would love to see how it turned out!

Okay I will try when I finish the page. Hopefully in the next couple of days. I'm really slow sometimes. LOL

My friend who still can't seem to post here has a suggestion. Here it is: "My thought is that she tacks the doily to a separate piece of fabric, and then glues the back of the fabric, with the doily attached to the front, to the scrapbook page."

I have finally finished the page but now I have to find out how to post a good picture of it.

You have enough posts that you should be able to add a photo directly into this thread. Third from the right on the second row of icons above the text input box is one that looks like the landscape setting on a camera. Click on that and follow the prompts. I'm not sure if you can. see it if you click Quick Reply, but you can see it in the other reply options.

I tried before but it didn't show the page entirely so here goes again.

woodgirl 11-12-2019 09:45 AM

Good, it worked but is it to big? I'm not good at taking photo's (too shaky) but this it the best one I've got.
Thanks to all who have helped me, I truly appreciate it.

Oh wow! This is a masterpiece!!!

joniworx 11-12-2019 01:09 PM

Woodgirl, that is SO pretty! I love it! Thank you for sharing it!

woodgirl 11-12-2019 02:17 PM

Thank you, I didn't dream it up, I found one similar to it and thought it so pretty I had to try to make it. I hope I didn't do anything wrong in duplicating it. Papers as is everything else is different but the idea was there. I especially liked the doily in the corner. I make doilies also so I of course had to use one in my scrapbooking.

You were inspired by something else, and made it your own!

Cook22 11-12-2019 11:13 PM

That is beautiful!
