Question Looking for "double-sided clear tape"?!

I recently went to a card workshop, and the hostess used a great technique that I would like to duplicate. We stamped a 2" square stamp on white paper, then used a double-sided sticky paper. We peeled off one side and stuck it to the stamp. It was clear so you could still see the stamp image. Then we peeled off the other side and stuck it in "Dazzling Diamonds" powder. It gave the effect of sugar-coated candy! It was awesome, but I don't know where to find this product. Can you help?

I get my double sided clear tape at Walmart in the stationary dept. I think I pay like $1.92 per roll...I get the one that has the duck on it.

Did the tape go on the stamp or on the stamped image? Was the tape before or after you stamped. Did the tape cover the whole 2inch square or just the stamped image? Sorry, trying to picture this so I can help but I'm having a hard time .

I know that there is some double-sided sticky paper that "forms" to your item to be stuck, but I've never heard of it being used in the way you describe. I can't remember what it is called, but it I find it in the SB aisle of Michaels.

WOW! This technique sounds awesome. Are you going to upload a sample? I would love to see it.

Wal Mart carries double-sided tape in the office supplies section. Scotch makes it and so do other companies. It is not very expensive and there is also some located in the scrapbook section.

I am going to have to try this right away...

Be careful...There are two kinds available...Permanant and Removable. I am not sure which one will work the best. I have both on hand and will test each and post later to let you know which is better. TFS such a "cool" technique.

Okay, let me explain this better! The image is 2" square and stamped on white paper. The "sticky paper stuff" has backing on both sides, because it is sticky on both sides. You remove one side of backing and stick it onto the image on the white paper. Then, you peel off the backing on the other side (which is now face up, but stuck to your image on white paper), then press it into the Dazzling Diamonds powder.

I hope that is more clear.

I would be glad to upload the card we made, but 1) I am a teacher and am moderating a study hall now, so my card is at home, and 2) I don't know how - this is my first time using this website for more than just browsing through other people's ideas. What do I do? I do have a scanner, and I have a digital camera. I can do this later this evening, after the kids get home from piano lessons! (Ah yes, life goes on for us working moms!)

OK, I think it may just be the wide version of tacky tape (if it was on a roll) or the sheet version of the same. If the backing on the tape was red, then tacky tape it is, but there are other vendors of double-sided tape that could be used in this capacity.

Karen, the backing wasn't red, it was brown, and it seemed to be thicker than tape. I'm sure that tape would work, too. I just want to duplicate it 'cause I loved the look. If I figure out how, I will post it later.

Thanks for the name "tacky tape". Maybe I will be able to find that!

It was a sheet. The hostess had pre-cut it into 2 inch squares for us. But it was too thick to be on a roll.

One of the brand names for this is "Double Tack". I get it in the scrapbooking section at the craft store. It would be called a double sided adhesive sheet.

Look in the notions section of JoAnn's, its called peel n stick, comes in 11X14" sheets and also smaller sizes. I use this all the time for micro beads, it is very sticky. Watch for when they have notions for sale 40% off! I have no problem cutting with the rotary cutter either, just cut in 2X2 pieces, or what ever size you want. Linda

Smile Adhesive Found!!

Thanks to all for the suggestions. I found Peel 'n Stick at JoAnn Fabrics and used a 40% off coupon. Even without the coupon it is not expensive. There are probably other items out there, but this will work well. As soon as I have used it for my own project, I will attempt to display it here. I haven't done that before, but I do want to share what this effect looks like.

Again, thank you to everyone - I was amazed at the great response (this is my first time posting anything!).

If anyone was interested in seeing this effect, I am trying to put it in the gallery. My digital camera broke and I can't use it right now, but as soon as it's available, I'll post it and start another thread to let people know that it is in the gallery.

Thanks for your help and patience!

Sally

Thanks to everyone who helped with this search. I am in the midst of fixing my broken camera, and once it is ready, I'll upload a few samples for you to see. When I do, I'll start a new thread to inform you that it is available.

Thanks again!
