How do you

How do you attach vellum to a piece of cardstock without having your adhesive show thru th vellum? I want to use vellum on my Christmas cards but do not know how to attach the vellum to the cardstock. I can not put ribbon over it, the card does not call for it.

Thanks for your help ladies.

Hi Lenora. I use a vellum adhesive called Thermoweb but I am sure there are others. HTH!!

How about brads or eyelets?

I like to attach mine to the back side of the paper and then fold it over to lay on the front. That way the vellum is free and not adhered down on the front. Another way is to attach it under a strip above or below or fold over the top of the vellum which makes it thick enough that you cannot see the adhesive below.

Here is a link to a blog post about it with pictures that might help you to understand what I mean!

Crystal Effects works great, just remember to set it aside to dry for a few minutes :)

I always either use a brad or eyelet, or have it partially under cardstock, so I can just adhere that part... but those vellum glue dots work really good, but that would require you to go to the store....

Vellum Glue Dots

Glue Dots International makes a glue dot specifically for this...

I use my Xyron to attach Vellum and have found it works great. You can use brayer or bone folder to smooth out any bumps or bubbles.

Tombow makes a vellum adhesive in the same runner as the mono. Saw it at Michael's... a big Michael's.

You also could apply adhesive and attach an embellishment over that area. Like photo corners or flowers, etc. I have done this many times.

Attaching vellum

I had this same problem last week. I found three adhesives especially for vellum. The glue dots is deceiving, there are not dots, you rub the vellum off a transparency and it sticks a little. I thought the 3M tape which has an adhesive you rub off and attach was better. I used it and it works fine and is completely invisible. I also bought the Tombow vellum adhesive but haven't used it yet. I also found several threads in this section that tell of others' experience. Search "vellum." Good Luck!

If the vellum has a stamped image on it you can often hide regular adhesive underneath the image.

I run my vellum through my Xyron and it works great and doesn't show. I also use brads or eyelets in the corners to attach it to the cardstock.
