Question Craft Ink & tiles

I would really love to know if I can use just the craft ink on the tiles alone? I read numerous posts yesterday that said craft had been used along with staz-on, but I don't have the staz-on and would like to try using craft. I plan to heat set it in the oven, but wanted to know in advance if anyone had done this.

Thank you.

Lisa

I am not 100% sure but I think that if you use the craft ink you may have to seal the tiles with a clear sealer. I use Krylon sealer when doing mine. If you are not using them for coasters it should not be a problem. If you are using them for coasters you cannot seal them or the moisture will run off the coaster.

I have done the tiles using both the craft pads and staz on. The staz on you don't need to heat set, but with craft pads you have to heat set them. I like the craft pads because there are so many color options. I sealed mine and use them as coasters. I put cork on the bottom to absorb any run off. I don't have a true preference between staz on and craft pads, I think it is up to the stamper. Good luck!

I've used staz on (heat set) & craft ink (heat set also) & I like the craft ink better - doesn't slip as easily & more vibrant I think. I did not seal either of mine & the staz on has 'worn' off when I used a rough bottomed cup daily on a tile. If your tile coasters will only be used for finished bottomed glasses/cups no need to seal. I just make sure I use smooth bottomed glasses now on those coasters. Good luck!
