House Mouse question

I have just discovered those adorable House Mouse stamps. They are so cute
and I like the simplicity of them. But, how do you color them to make them look so soft and cuddly? Chalks, ink, pencils, watercolor???? There must be a trick to them. Would love to do some for Christmas, but, if they don't look right, I don't want to buy them.
Thanks in advance for any suggestions.
Helyn

I use my watercolor pencils. I am going to try the prismas next and see if I get a brighter look! I just love the house mouse stamps! I actually have 53 of them!

I thought they had a tutorial on their website too on how to color their stamps.

twyant 08-12-2007 07:25 PM

I just use my blender pens to color them! I love them too!

susiestampr 08-12-2007 07:55 PM

I use regular colored pencils..Susie

I love the HM too. I use markers from SU, or an aqua painter with the ink refills or even the ink in the lid of the ink pads. Depends on how dark or light I want the color. Hope that helps... :)

House Mouse are my favs! I also use Prismacolor Pencils blended with Gamsol to color in my HM images. :)

I really like house mouse too!! A lot of the images are - finicky? would I say?? I have used all sorts of colouring mediums - prisma's and gamsol, chalks, markers on gloss cardstock - which by the way has a surprisingly good effect.. I'd say - try something different with a few stamps - and sometimes I"ve found chalks can add in a nice soft background - or I might mix chalks and markers , or chalks or and prisma pencils... of course, I haven't used my chalks in ages...I think I'd better pull them out!!!

Hope that helps a little.

I generally use chalks because I suck at pencils and watercoloring! I keep that in mind when picking which stamps I choose. I just use lighter brown on the mouse and then a darker brown to shade. Here's a couple of my cards from my gallery that I colored with chalks.

I have more stamps on the way! Can't wait for more mice! (The rubber kind...not the real ones! LOL!)

Hi I just love the little guys also. One of my most favorite images. I use watercolor pencels with my auqa brush. This gives me the colors I want to acheve. I also use this on those cut little hegdehogs. I wish Stampin Up would bring them back with new desigins of corse. I have all the others I think?

Jane,

I just got Pebbles chalks this weekend and haven't tried them yet. How do you get such good control with them?

TIA,
Marcy

Holy "Mouse", that is a lot of mice!!!

I like to use Blush Blossom on the little mousie hands, feet, face, and tail. (If you are using Copic markers, use skin white.) Then I use different brown and grays on the mice, usually watercolor pencils or pick up ink from your ink pads. In Copics I like Brick Beige for their fur. I also add a touch of pink on their cheeks and nose tip.

ashmanra 08-14-2007 04:18 PM

Oops, and a touch of pink in the ear! :)

I use Prismacolor pencils and baby oil on a stump to blend. Love the way the chalk looks too. Will give that a try next time.
