Default embossing question

I am a total newbie wanting to buy some embossing supplies. Can I get one stamp pad for embossing and powder that would work for both copics and peerless watercolors? Thanks for help!

Hello and welcome to Splitcoast!

Any "sticky" ink will work with embossing powder. If you have pigment inks in your craft supplies already, those should be fine. Many people use Versamark as a clear "ink" that's great for embossing and it's possible to combine that with dye inks if you want to use those and emboss - just ask if you want details of that! Distress inks, although dye ink, stay wetter for longer and work with embossing powder too. Sorry if that's confused the issue, I'm just trying to say that you may well already have a suitable ink!

You need to exercise some caution with Copics and embossing powder to make sure you don't gum up the nibs on your markers. Clear powder should be fine but it's always best to avoid colouring over the embossing too much (apart from anything else, the alcohol ink in your markers will actually stick to the slick surface so it won't stay completely clear if you colour over it). Opaque powders (metallics, white etc) are more likely to cause the nib problem.

Watercolours of any type will just be resisted by your embossing so you have no worries there.

HTH!

So very helpful! If I am understanding you correctly, I could use the same stamp pad and embossing powder for images that I wish to color with copics and with watercolors; the stipulation being that with copics clear embossing would be best and also don't go over the embossing too much.

Yes, you interpreted my slightly garbled splurge perfectly!
