Help with Stazon on tile
 

I tried this for the first time last night and was disappointed in the image. I tried black stazon on white tile with a solid image rubber stamp. The image was not crisp and the ink was much darker in some areas.

What did I do wrong? I tried about 15 times.

This happened to me too so I'd like to know how to do it as well.

I have only stamped on marble type tiles. Sounds as if the tile had a slick surface. Good luck

I've used Stazon on the shiny tiles and haven't had problems. I do wipe them off first before stamping.. I've done Coast to Coast sets as gifts. I've let the ink dry a bit then used permanent markers for coloring. I've then used a sealer after. Good luck, MaggieSt:)

I noticed when I stamped on the shiny tiles that if I don't get even pressure applied when using a solid stamp I get the results that you are talking about...the problem is that with the shiny...comes the slick and applying too much pressure can make your stamp shift. I don't have any great remedies but can understand what you are talking about!!!

I always give the tiles a quick wipe with rubbing alcohol- that makes sure you don't have any gook on them that might leave an un-even stamp. The only other thing I can think of is that you might be over inking? It just takes a light tap tap to get enough Stazon to make your image. If you tap too hard you get a lot more ink and it becomes harder to keep your stamp steady when you press. Like mentioned above- those white tiles get really slippery! The extra ink also tends to "push out" when you press- remember that the tile won't absorb any ink like your CS does. I've only had uneven color when I forgot to clean the tiles before hand... make sure you are tapping the color on with your ink pad and not sliding the pad across the surface of the stamp.
You can always apply a thin layer of color to the tile before hand- like a thin thin wash. That sometimes help with the stamp not sliding as much. Just dip a paper towel in the corner of your stazon pad or some of the adirondack alcohol ink and rub all over the tile. That might help you out :) Good luck!

Sorry I don't have any solutions for you about the white tiles (I'm assuming that the ones you are referring to are the white glazed tiles)...I've read a bunch of threads that recommend using the unglazed tumbled marble tiles. And those seem to work really well for me. I agree with a previous poster that perhaps the surface is just really slippery. I have tried stamping black stazon with line stamps on colored glass tile and that also seems to work nice also.
