help with stamping on candles
 

How safe it is to burn a candle after using tissue paper to put the stamp on it?

I have been wondering the same thing. Anyone burn their tissue stamped candles all the way down without a problem? I really want to make one as a gift, but not if it can't be burned or if is going to burn their house down! :wink:

I have not burned any of my "stamped" candles, but many have suggested burning it down just enough to fit a tealight in the hole. Then stick a tealight in and that way, your stamped image will never get ruined and you can still burn it!

I burned a stamped candle to see if my iridescent ice embossing powder would hold up. I was worried that it might start shooting sparks!

I had that candle burning for 3 DAYS and it was all good.

The candle mostly burned down the center. The tissue paper and the embossing powder were fine.

Definitely do the tealight thing for safety. I burn the candle just enough to get the wax really soft in the middle and scoop out a hole that just fits a tealight. Looks really nice when you use a colored tealight to match the stamping on your candle. If you are giving it as a gift you can include additional tealights.

I burned one all the way down that I had stamped onto tissue paper, it did not catch fire, but to be careful I would do the tealight thing.

OK having done a class on stamped candles my demo decided to burn one I had made her to see what happened...

nothing - it just burned down - it was a cheap $1 store candle so it just burned down into itself. We burned it for a good 2 hours one day and then the next stamp thing she had at her house she lit it back up and it burned for another 3-4 hours with no problem...

So I would say burning a stamped candle shouldn't be a problem - with ANY candle it should never be left unattended. Likewise the cheaper candle you use the better because they will burn down into itself - I would never use a high oil base candle (like Partylite) where the candle "liquifies" down.
