Help with Plaidmaker

I recently broke down and purchased the small plaidmaker and an extra sponge brayer part to replace my Perfect Plaids set. Is there a trick to using this tool that makes it easy and non-messy? I did an 8.5 x 11 sheet with Ruby Red and Forest Foliage last night and my hands are full of ink! Is it easier to cut your paper to size so you're working with a smaller area? Any help would be appreciated!!

My tip is to keep baby wipes handy - I use them to clean off the ink immediately - very useful for demo-ing at workshops!

I only buy the 8 1/2 x 11 cs and tape it with masking tape to keep it steady. I like to do the full sheet and get four backgrounds since it takes a bit to get set up.

baby wipes and paper towel for drying it are always near by.

Plaid Maker Made Easier

I did demo this at a workshop and they went wild over it. I did a large sheet 8.5x11. I taped mine down to the table and it helped a lot. You need to keep a damp rag handy to wipe it off, or a baby wipe works to. Also if you dampin the sponge brayer it don't soak up as much ink and it rolls so much nicer and evener. I am very happy with my plaid maker.

I'm glad someone posted this subject, I also had trouble with getting ink all over me and what not. I never thought of the baby wipes or dampening my brayer for better coverage. You ladies are the best!
