Can anyone tell me how to make a scratch n sniff card? I read it somewhere on SCS and can't find it now. I do know that I need Kool aid or anything without sugar.
Thanks
KOOL-AID EMBOSSING: 1:1 mixture or 1 Kool-aid to 1.5 Embossing powderuse the same color of embossing powder as the color of Kool-aidand may have to crush up Kool-aid to make it more fine texturealso, use the pre-sweetened varietymakes a scented embossed image

Stampin' 'til 3 in the morning!
Hmm.. I have a feeling Ill be posting a lot of messages asking silly things, but since I dont live "over there".. so here goes: What on earth is kool aid?! (no snickering over there! ;) ) I wanna try that too.. but.. Is it somekind of powder?

If you don't have it over there let me know. we buy it by the cases and I will try and send you a few.
Thank you so much for offering to send it, Im still amazed at how friendly everyone here is! But now that I know what it is, I think I know something a little similar here, that I will try out. But thank you anyway, so sweet of you!!
Okay, I just tried both the Kool-aid and jello. And I found the Kool-aid left a stronger sent and stuck to the card better since it is finer than the jello.
I had to use 1 part kool-aid and 1.5 parts embossing powder. I know have an awesoming smelling card. Thanks everyone.
Did you end up using the Kool Aid that didn't contain sugar?

I continue to be amazed by the neat ideas that are posted here. Thanks for the tips!
This is great, but horrible at the same time - I have a hard enough time putting my SU stuff down to get to bed at night, but now with all these ideas, maybe I'll give up sleep!
Ok another question! You mix the two together and then just use like regular embossing powder? Heat it up and everything? Just wondering because this sounds really neat!

according to the directions in Papercrafts Nov 2004 issue, you can use pretty much anything that does not have sugar in it because sugar carmalizes when heated.
They list things like:
cinnamon
spices
coffee
sugar-free drink mixes
for lareger granules (like coffee) use UTEE, embossing enamel.
they also suggest heating from underneath so the powder does not blow away.
This is where/how I learned this technique, HTH
OK, this may sound like a really dumb question, but how do you use this on a card? I think it is such a neat idea, but not sure how to incorporate it into a card. Do you use things like fruit stamps, and have the fruit smell? What other types of stamped images do you use? And do you put the words scratch and sniff beside the image on the card so the person receiving the card will know?
I learned how to do the scratch and sniff at a stamp camp. She had mixed up unsweetened lemon Kool-Aid and yellow EP. The set we used is retired, but I've managed to find enough other stamps to duplicate it. On the front, along with some stamped lemons, with the words stamped in black on white CS, cut apart and mounted on black shapes on a yellow base, "When life hands you lemons," and inside with a glass with a lemon slice on it and a straw, "Make Lemonade!" Sent my only sample off to an Auntie having a bad time, but did make a color photocopy. I told her inside with the greeting to scratch and sniff! I was going to computer generate the words, but found a stamp with that saying on it! Found a lemon slice, have the glass template, and a lemon that I liked. Perfect idea for this technique!
Hi,
I tried to go online to access the Papercrafts magazine article from Nov 2004 but they don't seem to have that availabilty. Does anyone have the article then can copy and send to me in word, publisher or a pdf file in Adobe?? Would love to read this! Thanks, Ruthie ;-)
