Help! Glitter not sticking!
I am not sure which forum to post this to...but I am soooo disappointed!
I stamped a word on some cards (with Versamark) then put glitter over the top...the glitter just brushes right off!
What stamp pad/ink should I use that I can use glitter over top of? I wasn't planning on embossing...just glitter...can I do this?

You have to have some kind of glue to hold the glitter on.
So you can stamp in Versamark, use Heat and Stick powder and THEN glitter.
Or you can stamp in black (or whatever color), then use Crystal Effects to hold the glitter on.
Or you can use SNAIL to hold the glitter on if you want a stripe.
But you have to have some kind of glue/tape or the glitter will just fall off. It needs some glue.

Jen,
What's Crystal Effects??? Hmmmmm...yes, that makes sense...adhesive...just don't know if I can stamp with adhesive? Does that work? They're tall skinny letters...

Crystal Effects is a clear glue that comes in a tube sorta thing. Lots of people use it with glitter.
I know there is a glue stamp pad, I *think* you can stamp with that and then the glitter will stick to it, I've never tried it though.
Other than the possibility of the glue pad, no you can't stamp with adhesive, you have to add it after you've stamped. Make sense?

Jen, it makes sense that you add the adhesive after you stamp, but how do you do that??? you mean you stamp over the top? or you have to paint it on? Geez...I'm sounding a lot ummmm....dumber that I really am...really!

LOL! This sounds like something I would have done.
I always use the SU two way glue for my glitter. Stamp the image, then brush the glue where you want the glitter (it goes on blue, but dries clear) and sprinkle the glitter over it. The heat and stick powder works well too if you want to cover a larger area. In that case, you'd stamp your letter with the versamark pad, sprinkle the heat n' stick powder over it, heat set it with a heat gun then sprinkle the glitter over the top.
Good luck!

I really like Heat and Stick for glitter. I bought some a long time ago at a stamp camp. After I got it, it sat on the shelf unopened for longer than I care to admit. One day I finally opened and used it, now I love it and use it all the time.

I like the H n' S powder a lot too... and although I didn't mention it in my first post (not sure why!), it's actually easier/less messy to apply the glitter with a finger than to sprinkle it.
Once your H n' S powder is sticky, stick your index finger into your glitter. The glitter will stick to your finger. Then just rub your finger over the sticky powder, and repeat until the whole area is covered. It works great and there's no clean up!

solution for your glitter
If you want an entire saying to be glittered, you should try the heat and stick powder from stampin up. you stamp the image in versamark, spread the heat & stick over the top, shake off excess, heat and then add your glitter. Once the heat and stick cols it will hold the glitter onto your page and will not brush off at all. It works great and gives you a great effect.

There is also a pad that resembles an ink pad that is GLUE....It is shaped like Staz-On pads and for the life of me I can't remember the name....The pad comes dry and you have to fill it with the refill that comes with it....There is also a Quickie Glue pen that you can write with as it is FINE POINT and glitter your own hand writing, lines, dots, etc....Heat n Stick is also sold in stores it IS NOT a SU! product/brand...Check Michael's JoAnn's Hobby Lobby etc...Even Wal Mart carries it!!! (saves on shipping too!)

Oh, yes, you can get a little blue glue pen... I think it's Zig or something like that. You can pick one up atyour LSS or craft store. after you stamp your word you can trace over with the glue pen and then sprinkle on the glitter with a plastic spoon and let dry. My friend has her glitters in a plastic sandwich containers with its own spoon. you know those blue glad containers, lid stays on tight and you can do one card at a time with a very little hassle. she keeps a box of fabric softner sheets handy to prevent static too. Hope that helps.

Gltter
I use quickie glue, It looks like a pen then sprinkle on the glitter tap of the excess and it never rubs off, Its great for words because the tip is like a pen so you can do very tiny letters.

There is also another product called Stamp-n Bond and it is the same thing as heat and stick. You can find it at a LSS. I got mine at Archivers. I also have SU's Heat and Stick, the Quickie Glue Pen, the Essential Glue Pad and the Stampin Up two way glue pen and they all work great! I use them all for different applications.
