Default ironing stamps

Does anyone know about a technique where you use velvet, or velvet type material and use an iron to make an imprint of your stamp on the material?
I thought that this might make really neat scarves, if I can figure out how to do it!
Thanks for any and all help!

Default velvet embossing

Hi there - basically you want to buy the nylon velvet (the cheap, but not-so-cheap stuff if you know what i mean...) Then turn your stamp rubber side up and then your velvet, soft side down (facing rubber) mist with a little water and hold your iron on it for 10 seconds. I have my iron on med-high setting. Be sure to test out first before you go full-force on your project you may find out that you have to leave it longer or shorter with your iron. Also, try to put the iron on the image where the mist holes are not.... Make sense?

I'm pretty sure it has to be rayon-acetate velvet (according to Mary the Hot Potaoes lady). Nylon will burn easily. I've been wanting to try this too. I went to Joann's Fabrics and they didn't have the right type of velvet. I just checked the Hot Potatoes web site and they sell the velvet. If I ever get around to trying it, I'll post my results. Anyone have any great ideas for embossed velvet?
