help attaching vellum

Hi everyone, this is my first post here. I designed Christmas cards with a piece of vellum that needs to attach to the front of the card....but I know most glues/tapes will show through the vellum. Is there a glue or tape that will be invisible?

I know this has probably been answered before, so if someone could even point me to that post I would really appreciate it!!!

Thanks,
Cindi

You can use vellum tape that can be purchased at various places and you can also use brads.

I bought vellum glue and that works, but as said I use brads more.

None of the tape is transparent. Have tried them all.

Attach with brads, or, "wrap" it around a layered piece of cardstock, then attach to the front of your card (you can tape the vellum down on the backside that no one will see).

Thanks everyone! I think you answered my question....

I had heard of vellum tape, but had also heard that it does show through and that's what I was afraid of. I'm afraid that will look bad in this application. I did use brads on the first one that I made, but didn't want to have to use bubble wrap to mail all of these!! I will experiment with the "wrap" idea...that might work.

again, thanks everyone for your help!

I have used eyelets and then put ribbon through the eyelets to give it a nice look.

place your adhesive under an embellishment...run ribbon over your adhesive...brads...eylets...stamped image over your adhesive...vellum adhesive...use heavier vellum.

HTH;)

I also staple vellum to my project.

I use my sewing machine. Or hide the glue behind another element on top of the vellum. It seems like everything I've tried shows through too. Maybe I push it on too much or something.

Thanks everyone for the great ideas!!! I will keep them all for future reference - what works with one project, doesn't always work with another one, you know!!

What I ended up doing was smudging the ink around the edges of the vellum, making it "heavier-looking" at the top and that hid the vellum tape! (I'm sure there's a name for this technique, sorry that I can't use the right term, lol!!!)

Thanks again to everyone for the great ideas - it is so nice to have this forum and the wonderful people who are willing to share on it.

Hello to everyone who helped me with this question! I thought I would show you what I ended up with....here's a link to the cards I made;

hope this works; it's my first time attempting to do this!! I'm not that computer-savvy, lol!

Thanks again for all the help - this is a great group of people.

Very pretty card!! I have been told CM frosted splits also work under vellum.

Yes, they do. These are what I use. At first they look like they will show, but if you rub and get them stuck well with pressure, they will disappear. I have also used Liquid Glass from ctmh under a coloured area of the stamp to deepen the colour and provide an area of interest. (eg. four round areas in the corners as part of the design would look brighter with liquid glass)
