I'm not sure what to call this, LOL. I'm making wedding invites for an Etsy customer. The invitation is a flat 4 3/4 x 6 1/2 panel (two layers) with a ribbon in between the layers and wrapped around the back. Then the RSVP card (just a postcard) she wants slipped under the ribbon with a bow at the edge. Here's a link to a photo...
She seems sure that there is a way to attach bow/ribbon/both so that the RSVP card will be secure under the ribbon and not slide out. So far, I'm not having that result. The bow is adhered to the ribbon with a glue dot, and I did find that putting another glue dot under the ribbon, right next to the RSVP card, improves things, but it still slides out with not much effort.
I can't think of any way to accomplish this besides putting a little glue on the RSVP card itself, and I'm pretty sure she doesn't want that. Am I missing something here?
Did you make all the cards already? If not, could you maybe put a punch slit on the big brown part to anchor the RSVP card in? On the front, the slit would be covered up with the second layer. I'm not sure how it would look...just thinking out loud here.
I agree with the temporary adhesive. The hermafix or two sided removable tape. You would just need a small strip on the back of the card. It would pull off the card very easily.
I'll ask her about the slit. The back side of the RSVP is going to be where her address goes for mailing them back so I don't think I can put any adhesive back there.
Have you ever used that sticky stuff to put a poster on the wall (think college dorm room posters). It sort of looks like gum. What about a small ball of that? It could very easily come off prior to mailing.
LOL. She is very picky - like she noticed a very very slight difference in font color and had a definite preference, where I didn't even see they were different! So somehow I think she's not going to go for that. But I'll throw any and all suggestions her way! thanks!

I know it isn't the classiest thing ......
I wouldn't try this, just because I've seen some brands leave a grease spot on the paper. If she's picky, she'll notice it
Yeah, that's what I'm afraid of - that she's not going to like the idea of her guests having to deal with any residue or adhesive that has to be removed.
She needs another set of samples so she can decide on ribbon - with gold edge or without? *rolls eyes* so I'm going to try the slit and see what she thinks.

I feel your pain. It seems a shame that some women have such an idealized vision of what their wedding day must be like and how every thing must be ab-so-lute-ly per-fect that it's impossible for the reality to live up to the fantasy.
Seriously, in 2 years, who will remember whether the invitation on the ribbon had a gold edge?
If you could find a matching metallic elastic cord that would hold your RVSP more snuggly.
Other than that, the slit sounds like the best idea.
My final idea that just popped into my head is what about a couple coordinating photo corners to hold it in place or one of those decorative corner punches that you can slide something under?
I know this is a little...or a lot...off topic...but...I was wondering how easy or what type of experiences you've had on Etsy. I've been considering selling there...but have been too chicken to get my feet wet. Thinking it might be more trouble than it's worth...and would really appreciate some feedback. If there was a post about...I didn't find it...so sorry for the off topic reply. Thanks a bunch
It's not easy - there are lots of cardmakers on there. I've been lucky to find a couple customers that like my style and have bought from me more than once. I also try to offer some noncard items, or sets of cards, that are a bit more unique and I've had better luck with those. Individual cards sometimes sell but not as often as I would like!
I'm sure there must be lots of threads - did you type "Etsy" into the search box on the lefthand side? Here is one...
LOL Eileen - DH has been calling her that for weeks. I said, if she is this particular over the invitations, what must the rest of her wedding planning be like?
The clip is an interesting idea... maybe there would be a way to clip the bow/ribbon/RSVP card all together. Hm, will have to think on that.
I don't think she's received the slit sample yet but I got no response from her when I emailed her about the suggestion!
