Default Paint can ideas....PLEASE

I have friends that were recently diagnosed with cancer (husband and wife, mid 50's) and I want to make a paint can and fill it with "goodies" for them".
Any ideas for stuff that would be appreciated and/or needed during their treatments and recovery?
THANKS FOR ANY IDEAS.

If they have to sit thru chemo it is boring. So I would say good things to read, crossword puzzles, little snacks (you are there a long time) a pack of cards you will find someone as bored as you or you can play solitaire. My daughter found a lot of cute and inexpensive hand held games. Some note and thank you cards would be nice its a good time to write. One other thing I got was a burden bear and it had a little poem about turning all your burdens over.
I loved all these things but what I loved the most was that my family and friends took turns coming to sit with me during my treatments. On a good day they were at least four hours and a bad day it might take six.
