Glitter

I just started playing with glitter.....it's so much fun! It really dresses up some cards and adds something special. I especially love it with my A Little Love set.... However, I am wondering if there is any technique to prevent static (I guess that's what the problem is) with the glitter that is making it stick to the whole card. I am using non SU (but comparable) glitter and a 2-way glue pen to adhere the glitter. But when I sprinkle the glitter, it is "sticking" to much of the card, even when I try to shake or tap it off. I end up rubbing much of it away with my finger, but I wonder if there is a better, less messy, way to work with this. Has anyone else ever encountered this? I know, crazy question! Thanks for your help!

Try rubbing a dryer sheet over the paper *before you add the 2-way glue & glitter. I've heard that can help!

Great idea! I'll have to try that!

I haven't tried this, I heard to use a "swifter" cloth, you can also use it before embossing! :D

Jenn I'll have to try the drier sheet idea, I'll have April Fresh cards! :D :D

I use my embossing buddy. I still have to tap the card to get the glitter off, but it does seem to come off better! :-)

Try this...

I just use a very soft paint brush and dust the excess glitter off. Once the glue is all dried, I go over the image once again to get off the excess their as well. I then use the paintbrush on my eyelids and shoulders.... ;)

A little glitter here and there, a little glitter everywhere!

I Use A Small Paintbrush

I use a blush brush to brush off the excess. I usually forget to buddy it. I don't even have to try and use it as makeup afterward, it somehow finds its own way to my face.

Thanks! I tried the dryer sheet idea today...it did help a good bit. What was left on the card came off much easier, too!

I have a tiny, thick bristled brush to sweep away glitter. That seems to work well for me. I enjoy using heat and stick powder whenever possible and have gotten a groovy little microtip for the glue bottle for less mess.

Just have to add...my dad is a retired art teacher...he is a rather formal artist, but I NEVER knew that he used to tell his students that if they could incorporate glitter into a piece and make it look good he would give them extra credit! LOL! The funniest thing was a card that I scanned and emailed to him. All he emailed back was "EXTRA CREDIT!!!".

Sorry, just have to tell my glitter story! ;)

Thanks! I do have a cool dad! Getting older and crankier, but still terrific. He bought me stuff to make my own stamps. He and my mom stamp with me from time to time. Actually, my parents were both at my SU class when only a couple others could make it.
