Default Glass jars

OK. I just got back from Hobby Lobby. I found these 2 cute little jars that were half off. The smaller one was 77 cents before the discount. It has a hinged top and I couldn't resist. Now the question is what is the best way to stamp on glass? Will Staz On work? What about Sharpies to color in the image? Would these work as long as I seal it?

IMO, StazOn is pretty much the only way to go for stamping on glass. You can emboss, but it takes a really long time for the glass to heat up enough for the EP to melt, and the embossing has a tendency to chip right off after it cools. I guess Sharpies would work for coloring, but I've never tried it so I'm not sure whether the ink might bead up at all. I'm guessing it wouldn't, since Sharpie ink has the same chemical base as StazOn.

This brings up another thing -- since like dissolves like, if the marker touches the stamped image, the ink will run together and the image will be ruined. A spray sealer probably will not work to protect the StazOn from the Sharpies because glass is non-porous and there will be nothing for it to adhere to (same reason the embossing will chip off).

Default stamping on glass

I went to Ikea and picked up some cheap glass items. I stamped on them with staz on then clear embossed and colored them with our markers and then put cystal effects over top. They turned out nice and I have no problems with them chipping or the stamp images being removed.

I would imagine they are not dishwasher friendly but I think you could probably wipe them down with a damp cloth.

hope this helps
