Default Photo Image Stamps

Is there a special technique for stamping with photo images? I tried inking up direct to stamp pad as usual - got no image just a mess. I ended up inking the stamp with my brayer - is that what you're supposed to do with this type of stamp?

I usually take pad to stamp, rather than stamp to pad. It's a little tougher with SU's concave pads, but still works better than stamp to pad.

Either put stamp upside down on work area, or hold in one hand upside down. Tap pad onto stamp being sure to ink all areas well.

You definitely do not want to use craft, chalk or juicy pigment inks for these types of stamps. I've gotten excellent images using VersaFine ... same makers as VersaMark, but specifically for fine line and detail stamps.

Hope this helps. Don't get discouraged. These are beautiful stamps!

You may also want to clean your image stamp to remove any mold release before using it.
A little warm soapy water usually does the trick for me.

It will definitely make a difference what type of paper you use. Use glossy or an Exact matte coated and you'll get better results than plain 'ol paper.

I had quite a time getting good results and it seemed to be the ink that made the biggest difference for me. Versafine and glossy are the ways to go for me! I ink the stamp, stamp on the glossy, press evenly, then carefully flip over the paper and the stamp still touching, and rub the back of the paper with my bone folder, or finger to make sure the ink is everywhere.

Good luck, and I do have a cheat sheet someone sent me if you want it, just send a pm - I may never find this post again :-)
