Stampin on fabric and watercolor crayons help!?

I'm part of a quilting group and know several ladies interested in stamping on fabric. We even had a lady speak at our group about using watercolor crayons on fabric. I've not done/used either, so need some advice.

I have the craft/pigment inks to try on fabric, but do I need to heat set/emboss it to make it washable? Is is ever washable? What about the crayons?

Any/All advice/suggestions welcome!
