Ghosting Technique
 

I received a card that was done using the ghosting techniqe. Does anyone know how this was done? I think I know some of it but I am not able to get it to look like the sample. Help!!

I have no idea how to do it, or even what it is, but would love to see it, can you post it here?

Here it is...I know she used glossy cs, brayered color on it. I am assuming she versamarked the images first and then brayered the color on. I can get that far but I am lost the rest of the way.

There are two different ghost stampings out there that I know about:

First off...and it looks like this is done here. Stamp with Versamark on glossy cardstock. Let it dry well. Then brayer or sponge over it. The Versamark will resist the other ink.

I think in this card the stamper used the same ink as what they brayered with (not quite navy??) and stamped the fern like flower in that color. Then randomly stamp some black outline flowers over that.

The second ghost stamping is done with Craft inks.

Stamp your image with white craft ink on matte cardstock and let it dry very thoroughly. The white ink has to be completely dry. Then cover your cardstock with darker pigment inks. Wipe excess away (from over your white stamped images) immediately. Last stamp your design in a darker craft ink randomly over the card.

Thanks Beate! I knew someone on here would know. I'm glad to know I was close. I didn't let the inks dry before moving onto the next step. I will have to try the craft ink one too once I get some more craft inks.

OK How long should I let the versamark dry? 2 hours later, my versamark still disapeared into the ink. Maybe I'll try the craft ink...

I thought I would just pop out another way to do what is called ghosting. I don't know if this is what you got or not. I am a member of Scrapbooking Society and in Aug we got a kit where the technique was ghosting. It was special paint that you painted onto paper, then placed an object on the paper and put it all in direct sunlight. The places where the object touched the paper turned lighter in color. The paint was from G&K Craft Industries. The paint we got was red, yellow, and blue -- but they are mixable.
