"Floating Image" cards...
 

I have recently some beautiful floating image cards....how do you do this?
Is it similar to a shaker card? Thanks

Hi Doris,

Floating image is really easy. There are two different ways to make a floating image card.

1: Stamp your image on Cardstock, color and cut out. Now run it through a sticker maker (I have the Xyron 510) and LOVE it and stick it face down on a piece of acetate. On your main card, cut a window. You can use punches for smaller windows, paper cutter, coluzzle or other cutting systems for making bigger ones. Next center your sheet of acetate with your image on the back side of the window and tape it down.

2: Stamp your image directly onto the piece of acetate with Stazon ink. Color in. You can use all different kinds of mediums for it. Fabrico Markers, Pearl Ex mixed with Lumiere, Crystal effect mixed with reinkers.... Again you will need to cut a window into your card. Center and adhere the acetate with your image. Done

If you didn't have a Zyron machine, how would you attach the image to the acetate? I'm always leery of using things that we don't sell and aren't craft room staples. Most of my customers are newbies and wouldn't have a Zyron.

This is really cool, also - check out Beate's gallery. We did one with Sweet Treats there that is just so pretty in person, with the lumiere painted onto the acetate. Very pretty, and an easy WOW project that uses SU! supplies only.

I like to just run mono over the top of the stamped image & then smooth it out on the acetate. I run the mono so that every inch of the paper is evenly covered. I do this to adhere mirco beads too. Does anyone else do this? Too wasteful? I don't do it for workshops (too complicated anyway), but for camps & clubs, where they already provide their own mono.

I do need one thing clarified....are you stamping the image on 2 pieces of acetate directly over one another? I was a bit confused by the directions.

I believe that Beate's directions are for two separate ways to do the floating image technique; they are not two steps for the same technique.
