FAUX Monogram Alphabet (computer generated)
 

I saw a post a while back on the computer font type and size that is equivalent to buying a monogram alphabet from SU and I can not find it again. If anyone has this info, I would appreciate it if you could pm or email me.

Using Microsoft Word, make sure to select the Times New Roman font. Increase the font size to 400 by overwriting the little number in the font size drop down menu on the toolbar at the top of your page.

To print only the outline of the letters select the Format drop down menu at the top of your page. Select the Font option, a pop up box should appear. Using your mouse select the outline box. Then click on the OK button at the bottem of the pop up box.

Send some cardstock through the printer, cut out the letter then stamp away to create coulour and texture!

If you switch your page set up to Landscape and reduce your margins you can get two letters per 8 1/2 X 11 cardstock.

I used the RGB codes to create my color right on my CS...

If anybody needs it still here is a msword doc with the page sized to a quater sheet card front. you can double click on the letter and change the letter and the type of font. drag the corners to make it smaller/larger. hth someone! also it is reversed so you can print on the back side and cut it out without having to worry about the lines showing :)

I actually made a card using one of the computer-generated monograms last night. I used a different font (I think it was Curlz MT) and set my format to outline. I used a light pink color ink and printed a large A on Pretty in Pink card stock for my great niece's birthday card. I cut out the A and put it on some pink & white gingham background paper mounted on a 5x7 card. Then on 3 pieces of pink twill tape using the Karen Foster snap stamps (another great find) I stamped ngelic, dorable, ndrea. When put alongside my large A, I had Angelic, Adorable, Andrea. I then punched out small flowers in pink and yellow and centers for the flowers in mint green. These were scattered around the card. At the bottom of the card on 3 of the flowers, I stamped i s 2. Also I did faux stitching in white around the large A and put some of yellow and mint circles from the flower centers along the A. My husband said it was too much pink so that helped tone it down a bit. I am somewhat technically challenged and don't own a scanner or a digital camera (there are actually some of us still out here!), so I can't upload anything but I think you can probably visualize that it is perfect for a 2-yr. old girl's birthday. Since I used a different font, I used 300 instead of 400 size and it was perfect. All of this I learned reading all the helpful hints on SCS and it's a lot less expensive than buying all those monogram stamps which might be used once or twice if that. Besides you can make what you need whenever the idea comes into your head, like last night for example. I was a happy stamper!

Checked my computer, it was actually the Comic Sans font at 300 that I used for my A.
