Default Faux Eyelets!

Emily created a new technique and I just gotta show it off!

FAUX eyelets! They come in all 48 colors and then some!

Examples:
http://gallery.splitcoaststampers.co...cat=500&page=1
http://gallery.splitcoaststampers.co...cat=500&page=1

How to do it?

Punch a hole using the 1/4" hole punch. Attach to card. Punch a hole using 1/8" or 1/16" hole punch. Voila.... faux eyelet! So freakishly simple.

I'm sure this is not truly something she invented but we were so proud of our bad selves when we realized they looked like eyelets! No hammering!

Kimberly

Love, love, love it! I saw the "eyelet" on the knit happens card yesterday and totally didn't give it another thought as to if it was real. I love the idea that now we can have "eyelets" that match all of the SU colors. TFS! You two are always coming up with brilliant ideas!

we did this at my upline's house about a month ago and used not only the circle punch but the 1/4 inch square punch that matches the alphabits. We found if you punch the 1/8" part first and then go around it with the 1/4" punch it is easier than trying to get the little piece punched.

Cute examples you posted!

oh duh! just reread and saw it was a bit different than yours-the ones we did were adhered over the paper, not on the cs itself.

Ahhh, so you mean they were just faux eyelets placed on the cardstock.... not for the purpose of actually having a hole? That's cool though, gonna have to do that too! Yeah, I can't imagine holding a 1/4" and trying to punch it! LOL!

yup-they were like decorative accents-not real holes.

Those are NEAT! It reminds me of the little gizmo that used to be on small manila envelopes [we used them for the bank or for Sunday School]. There was one little circle on the envelope flap and one on the envelope itself, with a string attached that you would wind round and round. Is there anyone else out there as OLD as I am who remembers those?

Way cool, Emily! I've done the 1/2" punch with the 2-hole punch to make faux buttons, but never thought about trying to do faux eyelets! Good thinkin'!!!

Okay this wasnt making sense to me until after I read what Britta wrote on her second post. I couldnt figure out why you would punch the big hole first and try to hold it in a punch. Thanks Britta for helping to clear my head! So your mistake was a plus for me, DUH on my part too. Great idea girls, youre so clever and since I dont pound eyelets this look will work great for me! Ive done the same procedure with frames for a cut out using the Coluzzle or circle cutter but this never crossed my mind. Thanks!

I tried this today and it's SUPER COOL!!! I don't think that I'll ever buy colored eyelets again, not when I can make one that perfectly matches the cardstock I'm using!!! I might have to break down and keep buying eyelets in metal colors but that's it

Has anyone tried putting the CE on them yet?

P.S. - Here's the card I made today using "faux eyelets"

You can make them with glossy paper that's been colored first. They are a little stiffer and really work well.

You can also use the little square punch. It looks pretty cool with a circle in the middle.

I want to try the silver metallic paper too.

I have used mono and it works fine. Just put it on the back of the "eyelet" and put it where you want it.

Thumbs up faux eyelets
