Default Starburst help

I am tring out the starburst technique and all I get is a Big Glob of ink. When I turn the card to make a circle with the brayer the dark in goes over the light ink. Then it is glob ink! Any help.
Thanks Leslie

Hi Leslie,
There has been a lot of talk about this on Techniquejunkies...so I have been practicing! First, it seems that if you have a soft brayer it is easier to do. I got a sponge painting brush (as suggested by the tipsters). You can get these at Lowe's, Home Depot etc.

I have found that you can lift up the brayer. If you are like me I kept trying to go all the way around without moving the brayer off the paper. Go as far as you can comfortably, then lift, reink, move your paper and begin again.
This is what worked for me.

Hope this helps!

Shelley

I've never used a soft brayer to do it and find the regular rubber brayer easy to use. I just remember to 'anchor' the one end of the brayer in the middle of the CS. I then use really short back and forth actions with the brayer while I rotate the CS........kind of like the shaking you would have if you had suffered a stroke. I usually have to reink several times.

I also found that it was best to attach my CS to another piece of paper with removable tape. I found that if I touched the glossy paper that it sometimes left fingerprints.

Here is a card I did with this technique.
