eyeshadow

Has anyone used the poppin' pastel's technique using powder eyeshadow? I thought of doing this and was wonder if it would work. I got excited when I thought of all the many shades of eyeshadow that are out there (as well as all the 'oops' eyeshadow colors I bought but haven't thrown out yet.)

I plan on trying it but wanted feedback from anyone else that might have already thought of this.
Thanks,
Bree

Eyeshadow

I've done it. I was showing one of the ladies at work how to use the versamark to do resists and didn't have any chalks with me. Works but not as well as the pastels. The coverage isn't as good and it doesn't "stay" as well as the pastels. I found it rubbing off on my hands as I worked with it. One advantage is the "sparkly" color.

Have fun experimenting! :P

thanks!

Peanutsmom,
Thanks so much for your reply. I decided to try it for myself. But I found that if you use a fixative spray, the shadow stays put...and it's a subtle coverage. Good for backgrounds.
Happy stamping!

Yes the eye shadows do work but they give a more subtle touch compared to regular pastel chalks. And the fixative is just a can of spray (kinda acts like hairspray) that "sets" the pastels or eyeshadows so they won't smear or fade. You can buy this fixative spray at ACMoore, Michael's, or any art supply store. you can find it along with artist pastels and charcoal pencils.

Hope that helps!

Pastels fixative

Another fixative for the Pastels is to use the cheapest brand of aerosol hair spray that you can find. Lightly mist the Pastels and you are good to go.

Yes, I agree, I've used really cheap dollar store hair spray for other pastel projects. I forgot about that!

GREAT $ SAVING TIP! 8)

Great!!!! Now I know what do with all the funky color eye shadow that my parents get for my daughter! Who is ONLY 8! But I'm sure you all know how it is when your children go shopping with grandparents, the grandparents always give in!! Then when my daughter gets home the eye shadow ends up in a ziploc baggie on the highest shlef! :D
