Wedding cake "box" for reception
I posted awhile back for help with this project. Thought I would post a picture of the finished product! It took some doing, and I learned a lot-when they say to use a THIN layer of YES! glue, believe them! :-) And next time, I would spray paint the boxes white first, just to lighten them up a bit.
I used the largest paper mache boxes I could find on the internet-they needed to be hexagonal to match the actual wedding cake. I covered them first with some basic white flat wrapping paper-spraypaint would have been easier. Then used YES! glue and attached the embossed paper (which miraculously matches the actual cake pretty closely! Found it at Hallmark!). I used too much YES! and was not happy with the results, so I applied another layer of the embossed paper. And somehow, the lids still actually fit! The paper on the tops of the boxes come down over the edges of the lids about halfway. Just applied black satin ribbon (again to match the actual cake) with double stick tape, and ~voila~, its done! This was fun, and will be much easier next time around! TFL
OK....I uploaded the pic to my gallery..........have no idea how to link that here! Sorry!
