Default Wedding cake "box" for reception

I posted awhile back for help with this project. Thought I would post a picture of the finished product! It took some doing, and I learned a lot-when they say to use a THIN layer of YES! glue, believe them! :-) And next time, I would spray paint the boxes white first, just to lighten them up a bit.

I used the largest paper mache boxes I could find on the internet-they needed to be hexagonal to match the actual wedding cake. I covered them first with some basic white flat wrapping paper-spraypaint would have been easier. Then used YES! glue and attached the embossed paper (which miraculously matches the actual cake pretty closely! Found it at Hallmark!). I used too much YES! and was not happy with the results, so I applied another layer of the embossed paper. And somehow, the lids still actually fit! The paper on the tops of the boxes come down over the edges of the lids about halfway. Just applied black satin ribbon (again to match the actual cake) with double stick tape, and ~voila~, its done! This was fun, and will be much easier next time around! TFL
OK....I uploaded the pic to my gallery..........have no idea how to link that here! Sorry!

Default Here's your link!

Beautiful "cake". I know it took much work. Labor of love. Here is your link.

What you do is to go to your picture, copy the address from the address bar and paste as I did.

Thank you for the kind words, and the link, Rosetta! The happy couple have approved of the "cake"...........whew! :-) I just love your backpacks, by the way! I do a ministry at the local women's prison (I work with inmates who are in a program that enables them to keep their newborns with them) and this looks like a great project for them! Hope you don't mind if I borrow your idea! :-)

Thumbs up

Gosh, you are such a wonderful person with a beautiful mission. Here is the link to the notepad holders designed by my SU demo, Madeline Soler:

I am also attaching some of the templates I made into word files. I used these for my group. All you have to do is to copy onto some colored cardstock. For the notepads, it's the small backpack. Since you can only upload 3 files, I am going to post the last one next. Have fun with the ladies. I think it can be so uplifting when they can produce a project like this.

Here is the last file. I had to scan this one. The jpeg was too big to upload here. So, I converted to pdf. I hope it is the same size. This template is for the printed designer paper that covers the lid and front.
