Default Reinkers Help

Hi All - Can anyone explain to me how to watercolor with the reinkers? I've seen so many cards with beautiful, deep color that I love! When I try to do it, however, my attempts are less than attractive. (Picture one solid color rather than variations in color.) What am I doing wrong?

I'm not sure what the correct way to do this is, but when I want to watercolor with my reinkers I take the coordinating color ink pad and open it. Then I put a few drops of the reinker inside the lid of the ink pad and then I use that and my aqua painter to watercolor. Water coloring with my reinkers gives me darker more vibrant colors.
