Ok I am not sure if this is what the other ladies do but, I take the spiral out. First I binder clip the paper and back page together leaving the cover loose. IWhere the spiral wraps around the bottom spiral undue. Then I begin to twist it out the top. I am sorry you have to undue the top one too (just like the bottom). After I get the spiral out I take the cover and measure it for paper and then after you get the paper cut out then you use a small hole punch and make the holes. I am not sure what size mine is. After I have decorated everything I put it back together. You put the spiral in like you took it out. You just twist it down and then redo the hook at the end. If I have confused you I am sorry. It is not as complicated as it sounds. If there is an easier way please somebody let us know.

I made these at my last stamp camp and they were very easy and a big hit with my customers! I did however, take the covers off. Simply straighten the ends of the wire with pliers and it will easily twist out. I then cut cardstock the exact size of the cover. We stamped that piece, added layers, embellishments, stamped names etc. When completed, adhere to the cover of the notebook. Using the holes of the cover as a guide, use your 1/8 inch punch to make holes. Then put pages with cover and twist the wire back in and crimp the ends. I purchased the notebooks at a wholesale warehouse store for $5.49 a dozen for the regular steno size - can't beat that! Hope this makes sense. Good Luck!

I have done them without taking the spiral out. Carefully tear out one sheet of paper. Use it as a template to cut a cover and then use the one eighth hole punch to very carefully punch each hole. I put the sheet of paper on top and punch through the existing hole. Next, make a small slit at the top of each hole. Put mono on the back of your cover and just slip it onto the spiral. The tiny slits are not very visible and everyone is looking at the great stamping you did on the cover, anyway. This is so much easier for me than removing the spiral. I am a bit scared of those things..one of my students got one stuck in his eye with the notebook attached several years ago. It was quite a trauma for all of us!!!
The only thing I try to do is get the notebooks in colors close to the color I will be using for the cover. For instance, I don't try to color a red notebook with mellow moss. If you aren't just perfect, the red shows through. If you cover a red notebook with one of the reds or pink passion, the tiny bit that shows is no big deal.

Can I ask where you got them for such a great deal. You can pm me if you don't want the name on here.
Thanks
Teresa

Noelle~ I tear out a sheet of paper and use that as my template. I take the CS that I am going to use for the front and back and punch holes using the paper I tore out as my guide. I then stamp it and cut slits at each hole (nobody ever notices) apply mono to adhere it. It is much eaiser than taking that wire out! I have several examples in my gallery! HTH

You know that is not a bad idea with taking out a sheet of paper and using it for measurements and then cutting little slits next to the holes and then using mono to attach the cover. How clever. So much better than taking out the spirals. They will never notice the cuts. I am going out tomorrow and getting some notebooks to try this. Thanks for the tips!!!

I too keep th espiral in and use a sheet to punch the holes for the cover.

My dd made my journal today for me that way. So easy!

I figured it would be fairly easy and you ladies helped me to understand it better now. I really like the idea of just cutting slits above the holes and sliding the cover back on and MONO it!!!!! Sounds super easy. Guess I will have to buy spiral notebooks tomorrow.

THANX TONS FOR THE ASSIST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
