embossing question

I was just wondering if any one can help me. I had seen a tag on a card that look like it was a metal tag but it was embossed and then there was a stamped image impressed into. Can anyone explain how this is done. I probably didn't explain it very well so hopefully someone knows what I mean!
Thanks for your help!

Sounds like the tag was covered in Versamark, then heat embossed with embossing powder, then the image was stamped into the embossing powder while it was still hot.

I have also stamped letters onto metal tags with metal alphabet stamps, colored them in with metallic rub-ons, then embossed it with EP. Hope this helps!

I'll try to describe the technique I think you're referring to.

Cut a piece of cardstock big enough for the image you're using. Cover it with versamark or other embossing pad. Then pour embossing powder (EP) over, dump off, and heat emboss as usual. When still hot pour more EP over, pour off excess, and heat. Repeat again. Usually use about 3 coats of EP. After the last layer is melted, press your stamp in and it will leave the impression behind.
