Embossing Question

I have recently started using my collection of embossing powders for resist stuff. I have several types/brands of powder with glitter/sparkles, but have never been able to use it successfully. The glitter just falls right off. I got some Distress Embossing Ink and find that it works wonderfully. I was hopeful that it would help with the glitter since it was so thick and sticky. But alas...

Any suggestions?

I have several different glitter embossing powders also and I find that you need to heat them longer than other embossing powders. I have not had a problem with the glitter falling off if they have been heated long enough.

Is it possible that it's not embossing powder? Maybe just regular glitter? Some companies' packaging is very similar. Maybe try it with a glue pad or sticky embossing powder...?

I had the same thought! Lol. I would totally do something like that. But my most recent purchase was definitely embossing powder. When I go to craft tonight, I will try both suggestions! (heating it longer and maybe mix in a little clear embossing powder for extra stick). Thanks to you both!!

Also try giving the jar a good shaking to get the powder & glitter to distribute evenly. If it starts settling, you might not have enough powder at the top to make the glitter stick.

Another tip is to do the heating from underneath. Quite often the heat gun will blow away some of the glitter before it starts to melt the powder. Heating from below helps to stop this. You could also try adding a little more clear embossing powder to the mix if all else fails. Its the embossing powder part that melts & sticks the glitter to it, so maybe there is just not enough embossing powder in the mix- every brand is a little different;)
