Default Help . . . . . I searching for a surprise W fold

 I so hope one of you talented stampers can help. I learned a snappy fold at a local stamp store a while back but I lost the directions and they are closed for inventory or something.

The card is a standard size card. You open it and it has a center piece about 2" wide that goes the length of the card. The fun is you can split/open this center piece and reveal more stamped images or hidden money, what ever.

I have no idea what this fold is called and I am deseparate for a template or directions on how to do this. I'm sorry I can't describe it better.

Can anyone help:(

Thanks!

Here is a gift card holder card that sounds similar to what you want.

Default "W" fold

This sounds more like what I call a surprise inside card. It is a trifold card that opens and then once you open it, you can open it again in the center and it turns almost inside out? It's pretty simple to make...I use it for hiding silver dollars for my nephews and nieces birthdays. If this sounds more like what you are looking for, e-mail me and I'll send you instructions.

Default The answer has been revealed!!!

 Hooray!!! InkeePhingers you are a life saver. What you are describing is exactly what I was looking for. Thanks to the others for trying to help. It's so hard to figure out what someone else is describing. I will definitely share once I get the instructions and an example.

Thank you . Thank you . Thank you!!!!!!!

Default Surprise inside (Wfold card)

I have already had about three requests for instructions so I will try to post the instructions here. Hope this works...if not PM me

Here are the directions for the magic inside or surprise inside card.

1. Card base of 8 1/2" x 5 1/2" card stock. Two strips of card stock, different, coordinating colors, 5 1/2" x 2 1/16".
2. Score card base on each end at 2 1/8" to form gate fold card.
3. Make 2 cuts in the 4 1/4" inside of gate folded card between the score marks at 1 3/4" from top and 1 3/4 from bottom.
4. Weave one strip through the cuts, then weave second strip through the cuts...weaves should start on opposite sides of the first cut, like weaving a basket, or making a checkerboard.
5. This is the saying I put inside the card on two of the "checkerboards":
Some magic for your birthday,
a gift or you from me.
But just like other magic,
It's a little hard to see.

You'll have to work to find it,
but here's a little clue.
This card will magically open,
Not one way but two!
6. The card opens like a regular gate fold card. Then fold the card in half in the middle of the checkerboard formed inside the card, to reveal a surprise "inside".
7. I hide a silver dollar in the middle of the card, or you can hide a small flat trinket.

Hope this helps. Hope you understand the directions. If not PM me and maybe I can clear it up a little.

Wow!! It sounds really easy and I love the little poem you use.

Now if I only I could convince my boss I have to leave work to play with this new card idea/layout . . . . . .

Nah, She'll never buy it. Thanks so much for sharing, you're a dear!

These W-fold gift card holders are great! I won't feel so bad next time I give a gift card now! (I always feel like I didn't think hard enough about the gift I bought)

The gift card holders are great. I had a pattern for it from Technique Junkies newsletter. Used it to make a card for my SU demostrator for her 40th birthday. She loved it. Didn't get to try the surprise card that InkeePhingers so kindly gave the directions to. Hopefully tonight but I have to work until 7pm. Yuck!!!!

Thanks to all such wonderful ideas. It's great to talk with such a sharing bunch!

If you look at GinaK's links, you just have to scroll down alot to find them. I missed them the first couple of times I looked . . . thought it was in one of the lists she has. Very neat idea.

Of course saying that, I'd love to see pictures of Elise's work too!

Thanks Hawk for finding that tutorial. That is exactly what the we were looking for. I finally got to try it last night. Of course being we have 2 new puppies at home, I didnt get a chance to stamp it.

I wasn't getting it by the instructions either but then it finally clicked. I was missing/not understanding where to cut. If you look at Angel Stampers steps 5-7 it shows were to cut. That is were this card really comes to life. Give it a try again girls and let me know if you have any more problems. And HOORAY, we now have the correct name for this card. The hidden message card. Now if I can only figure how to change the title of this thread we will be on the right track for sure.

Again, thanks to all and thanks especially to Hawk for find the tutorial to help us figure this out. You're a life saver!!

Glad I could help. I have gotten sooooo many helpful hints and tips from sc stampers I'm happy to give back when I can. I can normally figure it out from directions but sometimes you just need that visual to really "get it". This was one of those times. This card really impresses, it's fun to see people's faces when they try to figure out the "trick".

Yes it really is helpful to see visual with techniques like this. The gallery has some of these cards when you type in hidden message. Fun to see what others have created.

Now I just have to find someone to make a stamp with InkeePhingers saying and I'll be all set. Can't wait to play with this for the coming weekend. I have a SU party booked for the first Tuesday in February and I plan on making one (all different of course) for each of the guests one of these with the directions. And if I have time maybe a never ending card too. Also on Angel Stampers website. I haven't shown either one of these to my stamper friends so I'm pretty sure they will love it.

Ah . . . . can life get any better?
