Default Bleach Technique and Mother of Pearl Technique

I have a question about the bleaching and Mother of Pearl Technique.
Can I do these on scrapbook pages. I know that I do not want to do the bleaching near pictures because of the acid content but can I do it say like on the opposite end of the page where the picures are? I also want to know if I can use the Mother of Pearl technique near pictures or again should it be opposite end? Thanks
