I always throw a strip of tacky tape to the back cover of the pad...they don't come off then...

You could also reinforce the top of the pad with clear packing tape.

that's an idea...that made me think of using some sort of wet glue that dries clear and smear that across the top???

When I make my own notepads, I layer thin coats of white glue across the top to seal them, maybe this would help secure it more?

Maybe a staple through the center of the pad?!? or nail it to the fridge??? just kidding...couldn't help myself...sorry

the other ideas posted seem more workable and practical, but living with the king of redneck engineering, I've started thinking like his queen!;) ooh-maybe a nice strip of duct tape across the top of the pad would hold it together! Must. stop. thinking. like. him.
