Default Suggestions for microslide pins

Hi girls,
Anyone have any suggestions on how to make a pin out of a microslide? I think that's what it's called. Not the microscope slides. I think they would make a cute pin. Any suggestions would be apprecited. We have a snow day here in New Jersey and I'm busy stampin!!! Thanks--Mea :?

Default What is it?

What is the differnce between them? Do you have a pic or web site, if they are plastic or glass you should be able to stamp, collage etc the same for each?

Mea,

Please correct me if I am wrong: a microslide is the small, ultra-thin, glass segment that is placed over a specimen on the microscope slide.

If this is indeed what you refer to, if I recall correctly, microslides are highly breakable due to the thinness of the glass.

If I were to make these into a pin, I would sandwich the (stamped) cardstock unit between two microslides using a Xyron machine as my adhesive. I would then use E-6000 adhesive to adhere the pin back.

HTH!!

My stampin friends and I have made these pins. We used microscrope slides and silver tape that has adhesive on it. Just stamp your image on cs and then sandwich them in between the slides. Take the tape and run it around the side of the slides to cover the exposed edges. There are some examples in the galleries. We used crystal effects to glue the pin on the back and E6000 will work too. They are really cute but are breakable. I did get some plastic slides off of ebay but they were really thin.

Hope this helps!

You can buy the sticky tape in any stained glass shop. It is called foil. It usually comes in copper but I think you can get it in silver too.

Please let us know what you are stamping sounds interesting. I have also seen coasters made out of two 4x4 pieces of glass and edged in foil.....could stmap something and place in between.....

Mea, please advise the size of your microslide.

These microslides would make darling little pins, as they are smaller than a microscope slide.

I would love to know your source, if it is online. Thank you!!

Another fun way to embellish the edges is to run a strip of O'So Sticky Tape along the edge, then press it down to the front and back and BEAD IT! :0)

We did a class on this on my yahoo group at: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/PennyWiseArts/

Stamped images, collage sheets, scrapbook paper, and family photos all make a good focal for your pins!
