Eclipse?

I just looked at the tutorial for this technique. For those of you who have done this technique is it necessary to cut out the letters from the base color if you have a dark color for the card base?

Thanks!

I'm not totally sure I understand your question. I "think" the reason that this version is called eclipse is because the black layer on the light base looks like the start of an astronomical eclipse. When I first learned this technique it was called camouflage, and in that case the layers for the letters/shape were cut from white, so there was no "shadow" effect. Really, experiment with your chosen colours and use whatever you like the best, I would suggest.

Here's what I did! I used the card base as my dark color behind my word.

Just wanted to know. If you do not and any dies to use for this tech. Can you use a Cricut machine to cut out what you need to create this type of card??

Nancy, you can - and you're not limited to ABC dies for the technique either - I did this card with feather dies.
