Dry Embossing Frames

Hi I was hoping someone could help me out with dry embossing square or rectangular frames on my cards... I like the idea of having double frames and then a rubber stamped image sits inside the smallest frame...

How do you create perfect squares or rectangles without slipping and ruining your card .. I know you can buy frame stencils but these dont seem to give the same professional effects as when one frame is set within another... or the frames only cater for a corner of the frame leaving you to move it around and reallign it in order to eventually make the frame complete..

I have tried embossing around the outside edge of my own brass square or rectangular stencils but then the results tends to be hit or miss..

Whenever I use brass embossing stencils to emboss images they work really well but for some reason the frames tend to often look messy..

Also I have seen some people do dry embossing of rubber stamps they have but WITHOUT a brass embossing stencil ... any ideas how this is done too ...

Look forward to your replies
many thanks

Hey Tamba
Sorry you didn't get a reply quicker. I don't usually reply -cause someone beats me to it. Enyhoo - the dry embossed frame - try using your scoring tool or stylus and a ruler. Put a mouse pad or something like it under your cardstock.

Dry embossing a stamped image - shucks I think there is a tutorial on here somewhere but I'm not sure - check it out in "resources". Enyhoo -stamp your image and, again with the mouse pad and scoring tool or stylus trace the part of your image you want embossed, flip over your cardstock and trace again - this pushes the paper 'up' from the back side. Clear? Hope this helps. Have a good one. Happy stamping.

Here is a wonderful card posted recently by Barbara1224 where she creates a dry embossed frame and explains it quite well: //www.splitcoaststampers.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=399432

And here's a lovely card by JanTink where she explains how to dry emboss a stamped image: //www.splitcoaststampers.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=12754&si=dry%20embossing&perpage=90

Hope that helps! :)

Another way to dry emboss a frame neatly is to use the inside rectangle of a photo mat. You can use store bought ones or cut one to your own measurements with a Hobby Blade or paper trimmer.
