IMHO I would use your RR spots. You could heat set it if you need it to dry quickly. I agree that spraying some kind of clear finish on the stamping (once it is dry) will make sure it stays on. I have used mat finishes that I like because it doesn't get lost in the light if it is shined upon.
I'd love to see the finished project when you are done!
