eyelets 101

Ok, i feel really stupid but i thought i knew how to set eyelets and I can't seem to get it. Can someone please give a dummy insstructions. (i have the crafters tool kit!

HI Beth,
Begin with the hole in your paper
Insert Eyelet from the front
Turn over and stick the tip of the eyelet setter, which is the thick pointy thing, into the back end of the eyelet...tap hard enough to begin to get it to spread out.
Remove the setter and take the round end of the hammer and tap it out the rest of the way, usually three or four more taps..then take the flat end of the hammer and just give it a tap or two to make sure it is all flat...
the softer your taps are the rounder your eyelet will stay! Once you practice some you will find it is fast and easy and you will know how hard is too hard and how soft is too soft! Any more questions you just let me know!

Also hammering on a hard surface helps, don't forget to use your mat!

Yes thanks Jovi, A good hard surface is KEY to the entire process, if you have a hard white plastic table from Costco or Sams that is not hard enough...it needs to be a solid hard surface.

I actually figured it out right after I wrote this. (I knew I would.)

An easy way to do the regular eyelets is us your 1/16 and 1/8 hand punches. It is so much quicker.

Like the others said a HARD surface. I actually use one of my tumbled tiles that I was using for practicing (and is junk) under my mat. It's works perfectly! :lol:
