Red face Need help with a matchbox...metric anyone?

Hi there I have watched this video probably 5 times and I am just not able to translate the accent along with the metric measurements. I write down the numbers that I am SURE she is saying and then go grab my scoreboard and start scoring only to find that I am not even on any side. Anyone want to give it a shot and see if you can translate for me? My guess is that the demonstrator is German? Really not sure. Here is a link:

gift box tutorial - YouTube

Or if anyone just happens to KNOW the measurements and places to score to make a box this size and type? It just seems like the perfect size for what I am wanting to do and it's the only video I can find. Help please? Thanks so much!!!

Well aren't you fabulous!! Thank you! My kids are laughing at me because I am in the kitchen with my score board and paper cutter talking to myself trying to come up with the measurements haha!

I got all the measurements listening except 29.5 cm. They say it like 9 and 20 and a half, but it was very hard to distinguish on the video.

Glad I could help. I see she has lots of scorpal projects on her blog.

I am horrible at converting! It is not matching up exactly so I am off by a teeny tiny bit on some of my score marks. I think I have made...scratch that...attempted to make 5 boxes now and I am still off a hair. My ends are not the same height and one score mark is still off. I think my top is going to end up being a hair bigger than my bottom but I might have to try again tomorrow as I am getting frustrated :( I just got my Martha Stewart score board in the mail today and I want to play!!!

Oh you want the imperial version. I thought you wanted it in metric. LOL.

I'll work on it for you.

Here is what I've got.

Inside box.

7" x 9"

On the 7" side score at 1.5 and 5.5
On the 9" side score at 1.5 and 7.5

Slip Cover

6" x 12"

On the 12" side score at 1.5, 5.5, 7.0 and 11.

I just quickly made up this box and here are a few tips that might help. Make the inside box first and then wrap the slip around the box when you go to adhere it. It will be a tight fit so I just glued mine so it wasn't tight.

HTH

I bookmarked this page, you can enter any measurement, and it will convert it to any other that you choose from dropdown boxes. Worth having handy sometimes. Also this page. HTH

Thank you so much Misstreez!! I just ran out to the kitchen and made one up! You are right, the sleeve is a bit snug but that's no problem

And thank you, Shazsilverwolf for those sites! I swear, I have no sense of measure at all. It is really embarassing and probably hard to believe but it's true. When people tell me something is "a yard or so" I look at them bewildered, thinking to myself ::ok, 36 inches in a yard:: Probably why all of my cards are always A2...pretty much no measuring required!! Now that I am wanting to make boxes though, I am going to have to really learn! I appreciate all the help!!!

You are welcome, even though we got conned into going metric over here- I still think & understand feet & inches. I'm just a stubborn rebel- I refuse to convert, lol.

I didn't really do any converting as such. My trimmer is marked with imperial and metric measures. I just went for the nearest match on the markings. Didn't need to calculate anything.
