Cuttlebug Technique: Split Embossing

3 Attachment(s)
Thought I would share my Cuttlebug Split Embossing Technique with you

On the finished card, the top half of the white layer is embossed and the matching bottom half is debossed.

Score and fold the cardstock in half - Insert folded card stock into Cuttlebug embossing folder - Emboss.

Unfold embossed cardstock - Attach to card front and embellish as desired! :-D

Here's the 'how to' card I made for my Split Embossing Technique

Perfectly Paisley

Here's the first card that I made using the above technique :D

RIRed2 04-04-2008 06:56 PM

does the extra layer cause a problem? It seems it would make it to thick? Do you use the same plate stack up?

benolathe 04-04-2008 09:30 PM

Very, very cool - I love your idea!! Thanks so much for sharing. :)

My Cuttlebug had no problem with the extra layer :D
and Yes, I used the regular stacking of the plates

I have a stupid question. I love this idea. So when you foldthe cs in half...doesn't it creasethe card or does the ribbon hide it pretty good? Thanks!

Great question, luvbyloulou!

As shown below, there is a crease line from the fold ... but ... if you are careful with the placement of the cs in the embossing folder, the crease line from the fold could work nicely with the embossed/debossed images.

Having said that, I will likely continue to hide the crease line with ribbon or a narrow layer of cs! lol

HTH,

Love that idea!! i just did something this past weekend I thought was way cool....I ran the envelope thru the same embossing folder that I used for the paper i did on the card. It was really neat looking!! altho this is more of a "give in person" card since I dont think you could write an address on it very well.

RIRed2 04-17-2008 04:00 PM

Try writing on it first then put through the cuttle bug

MaryAnnK 04-17-2008 04:09 PM

What a great idea. I'll have to try this tomorrow.

sarahthestamper 04-18-2008 05:57 AM

TFS! :D

You can also choose to only emboss the flap...put the envie flap in the folder with the flap outside facing upwards -top has writting on it- wrap the envie naturally under the outside bottom of the folder...then run through. A very nice touch.

Creativexpress is currently selling the Bug for $35. Shipping's about $10. The current offer has one embossing folder (choose from 6 nice designs) that comes with it even!

Here's a great idea by LynniePoo ...

She combined this Split Embossing Technique with the Negative Effect Embossing from TLC160.

Inking both sides of the folder really makes the split embossed mirror image stand out!! :D Great idea, Lynnie!

Here's LynniePoo's card!

genescrapper 04-25-2008 05:00 PM

Here's another awesome idea:

Lynette (LynniePoo) came up with a Brilliant way to disguise the center fold when doing the Split Embossing Technique!!!! :D

Here's Lynette's card ... Isn't that awesome!!!!:D
