I have searched until my eyes are watering and I still am unsure.
I have a new stamp set from Stampin Up. It is one of the original wood block sets. BUT, I was wondering if I could put it together to use with the acrylic blocks instead of putting them on wood.
Since the rubber stamp has the foam sticky stuff on it, I don't need EZ Mount right? Do I adhere the clear sticky picture from the index label on the back of the foam? How do I make it stick to the acrlic block?
You CAN mount the clear plastic right on the rubber stamp, but the sticker plastic won't cling to the acrylic block. I have done it before and used a little tape to stick it. If you don't mind doing that, it works.
I do this all the time (or I did, back when we could only get SU! stamps with wood blocks). Here's how I do it:
Take your first stamp and remove the brown paper from the back. Take the sticker that goes with that stamp and trim it close to the image; then stick it on the sticky foam (sticky sides together). Hopefully you'll have a little border of sticky foam that sticks out past the sticker. If you don't, it's not that big a deal, mine just seem to work better when I do. Repeat this for the other stamps in the set.
Now get some repositionable glue. Alene's Tack It Over & Over works really well, but sometimes it's hard to find. Mono Multi in the white bottle with the green caps works too. I think I've heard of people using other types , but those are the two I've tried myself. Put a thin coat of glue over the back of the entire stamp - cover both the clear sticker and the foam border. The trick here is to keep the glue to a thin layer. Let the glue dry. Once it's dry, stick and unstick the stamp to your jeans or forearm or the back of your hand to cut down on the stickiness of it. Don't skip this step - otherwise your stamps will want to stick to your blocks/storage board in a more permanent fashion than you want!
Now they're ready to use, just like the clear mount stamps.
You don't really need to put the sticker on the back - it's nice for word stamps, and I did it with new sets because it seemed a shame to not use the stickers for something. This method works fine, though, with just the repositionable glue spread directly on the sticky foam.

I converted all my wood mounted stamps for use w/acrylic blocks. what a space saver and so much easier to align the design when stamping!!! I just removed the blocks (or if it was new, just removed the white paper) and used that way. I store in plastic calendar cases (look like CD cases only without the center piece) and life has been so much better. I only use 1/4 of the storage space I used to need and don't have to use my stamp a ma jig quite as much since it's easier to line up the stamps without the wood blocks.
