Cuttlebug and Nestabilities
 

Hi
Can anyone please tell me what I am doing wrong?
I can use the nestabilities with the cuttlebug but it doesn't seem to emboss the shapes at the same time. Am I supposed to do something else to emboss the shapes? Also, the cutting dies and leaving imprints on my C folder. Is this normal?

I was thinking of getting these and using them with my Big Kick. I've read two different posts with differing "sandwich" recipes. :confused:

There are some tutorials on Nicole's blog, from Papertrey Ink, http://nicholeheady.typepad.com/capture_the_moment/ that walk you through the process. I just got some Nestabilities last week and had to follow the photos on the tutorial because I was under the impression that running it through the Cuttlebug would both cut and emboss at the same time, but it's really separate. You run it through and cut first then run it through again, this time with the tan embossing pad.

Anytime I run something through for cutting it will mark my top B pad -- I don't know about your C pad -- you might check and make sure you're sandwiching things correctly -- Ellen Hutson also has some sandwiching recipes http://www.ellenhutson.typepad.com/. I will definitely check out the sites you gave me. I do not have a tan mat as yet so perhaps this is where I am going wrong?
BTW, I got my B and C plates mixed up - I have been marking my B plate not my C so I gather this is normal?

Marks on your B plate while cutting is normal. I try to turn mine over every few cuts and make sure to position my die and cardstock in different places. You will eventually have to replace your B plate (I believe they come in packages of 2).

As for the embossing, you will need the tan mat for that. As you might have noticed, the embossing sandwich is different than the cutting sandwich. Before ordering the tan mat I tried different combinations of fun foam and cardstock shims, but I never got an embossed impression. The tan mat was the trick for me!

I actually love the Mestabilities with the cuttlebug. I bought them about a week ago (really fast shipping BTW) and I have used them quite a bit...I did also buy the tan embossing pad...that helped tons. I have had no problems embossing and cutting...I used the info Nicole had on the website and printed the section for cuttlebug and leave it with my machine in the basket in case I forget how to sandwich. I bought the rectangles first...I read somewhere you can make small card with them just fold a piece of paper in half and make sure one side (long side of the rectangle is just past the fold and cut them in the bug...I have yet to try this.

I meant Nestabilities...boy its getting late! Sorry.

Hi Mom of Three Boys! You asked circles or rectangles first, and having them both, I would say circles 'cos I can just about manage to cut rectangles with a ruler and scapel. Circles and ovals I just can't cut neatly though. So, for me it would be circles and ovals. Or ovals and circles!!

Hi, there is a rubber sheet you need to add once you have cut your image. The instructions say:

To build a sandwich to die cut using the Magnetic Placement Mat, stack in the following order:

White Master Mat, Spacer Plate, Magnetic Placement Mat, cut (or rough side) up, Paper, White Master Mat.

To emboss, take off top White Master Mat, slide spacer plate out of sandwich, leaving the die and paper on the Magnetic Placement Mat, place Tan Embossing Pad over paper, replace White Master Mat.

Hello I just bought myself a cuttlebug. Can't wait to use it. I was wondering if you can use the Fiskars Templates with the cuttlebug? They are double sided so am not sure...Help...
